We had a lovely one night stay. Check-in was easy, staff friendly. Plenty of staff working hard. Staff were pleasant and made us feel welcome. We didn't eat in the pub because we had an evening meal booked already, and the masons arms were not open for breakfast. The food that we saw all looked lovely. The pub was really busy and a lot of people were eating. Probably need to book on a weekend. The place is opposite a wetherspoons so we went there for breakfast in the morning. The place is in a good location, walking distance to everything, but taxis are easy to get if you can't walk far. The rooms are small but have everything you need and more in them. There is a kettle, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, hot chocolate, and biscuits provided. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower get provided. Also and iron and ironing board. We didn't spend any time in our room. It was just for sleeping and showering and one night, and it was great. It was a cold day on arrival, and the heating was on in our room and bathroom, so it was nice and warm. The room was very clean, and it even had a little fridge too, as well as a flat screen tv on the wall. We didn't watch it as we didn't get a chance.

The host, Terry, was very welcoming and friendly, as were all his staff in the bar. The bar....let me tell you it was great. It was how bars and pubs used to be, oak beams and tables, open fireplace which was stunning, and everyone, including other visitor's and locals were really friendly. The food and the company was great. Our stay at the Masons was a memorable one. Our room was on the ground floor to the rear of the pub ,it was perfect. It more than exceeded our expectations. It was cosy, tastefully decorated, and spotless. There was plenty of tea, coffee, milk, and even hot chocolate, which I thought was such a nice touch . The beer garden was lovely, even in Oct. The river Foss runs right behind the beer garden which makes it feel like a really special place to stay. York city centre is only a ten min walk away which makes the Masons Arms a perfect place to stay. We are planning another visit to York in the summer, and we will definitely be staying here again, I can't wait to see the beer garden in bloom. Thank you Terry, Gillian, and all the staff at the Masons Arms for making us feel so welcomed.

Great location for a Gig we were attending nearby. Host were very helpful and friendly and allowed us to park onsite so we could go for a wander prior to booking in. The car park is small but enough space and it is secured on a night. There was no breakfast option but plenty of places nearby. We didnt eat in the pub as we had other plans but the Sunday dinner looked gorgeous and worth going back for. We had room no. 1 which is a ground floor extention room opening into the car park/beer garden area with out own little bistro table outside the door. Plenty of outdoor seating. The bed was large and very comfortable. Lots of Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate and biccys to enjoy. Powerful hot shower and plenty of towels. Large cupboard for clothes or storage. Would stay again.

The Masons Arms is a lovely characterful pub, our room was small, but had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. The bed was comfortable, the TV had a decent choice of channels, plenty of tea and coffee, the shower is quite powerful and the water lovely and hot, there is a small fridge which is handy. I asked for fresh milk for the room and they kindly gave me a little jug. We had a meal in the bar in the evening, it was very nice. There is little car park at the back of the pub and the parking is free, also it is very central and a few minutes walk and you are in town. There isn't a breakfast option at the pub, but we took porridge pots and fruit, which was fine.

Caroline

Everything. The staff were lovely! The room was a bit on the small side, but very cosy. The facilities in the outside area were brilliant and backed onto the river. The food was very good and freshly cooked. As an ex hotelier, I tend to pick faults. However, if I did on this occasion, I would be very bloody picky! I would recommend the Masons, especially in the summer. You are within five minutes walking distance to the centre of town. In addition, a large proportion of the clientele are local people. I am widely travelled and have an adage wherever you visit, always go where the locals go! They only have four rooms but I highly recommend!
